Many people see cooking as an intimidating task; however, it doesn't have to be. Cooking can be easy if you follow some simple guidelines about what tools are necessary in the kitchen and which ones aren't so much. For instance, do you really need a food processor? Read this blog post to find out more information.

Tip 1.

Do not run with scissors! This applies double when it comes to knives. Don't try anything fancy like throwing them at your spouse or using them as a screwdriver (yes this has happened). The blades on most good quality steak/kitchen knives are sharpened on both sides so they can be used by right-handed and left handed cooks or chefs this also means there are more opportunities for it to bite you. Kind of.

Tip 2.

Keep the blade sharp - dull blades will slip off food and make it harder to cut through foods like meat or vegetables. Dull blades can also cause accidents by slipping out of a piece of fruit or vegetable unexpectedly. Knives need to be sharpened regularly for best results when cooking.

Tip 3.

Keep your knife clean - dirty knives can harbor bacteria which could lead to illness from undercooked meats for example. Make sure that before every use, you wash your knife thoroughly with a mild detergent and then dry it completely.

Tip 4.

Learn proper knife skills. Many chefs have published videos on youtube on how they cut certain foods and use their knives to best effect. Get on there and utilize this resource.
